How did we get lost in the labyrinth of our insecurities?

I feel you and yet Earth opens up between us as we walk. But the smile that brought us together is still there.

… Can you see anything?

A profound exploration that delves into the dynamic world of loving relationships. In a game of projection and reflection of inner conflicts that are yet to be solved, each begins to serve as the other’s mirror.

Unwittingly or not, this intimate exchange of views can push us to extreme limits. Within this tender entanglement lies a deep desire to search for an inner serenity in an effort to experience a more lucid approach to the reality surrounding the emotional exchange. Yet, the desire alone does not guarantee clarity.

In the early part of our life, time moves uphill, slowly. But there comes a moment when life plunges and begins to free fall, faster and faster. If by this moment we have connected with who we really are and are positioned as observers of reality and of ourselves, then our mental time is indefinitely suspended as if it was a parachute

(When we connect with our present, time tends to be infinite)

One day something breaks and I push with all my strength to give birth. Metallic words go off. I surrender myself to the lightness of abandonment and start to hover with the gracefulness so distinctive of the downtrodden. Ever so increasingly I feel the words disappearing in the distance and in their absence of necessity I am finally able to scream.

PARAMETERS

Two characters, a dance performer and a jazz guitarist discuss about fear through the incarnation of music, words and movement. In a hypnotic atmosphere, generated by dramatic transitions in light, the nakedness of silence and the entangled melodies of an electric guitar, the piece unravels the fear that evolves from profound changes. Weaving existential poetry through images and movement, interlaced with texts by Franz Kafka and Ani Difranco they face the emptiness that arises when the parameters that sustain life collapse.

 

Maybe fear cannot be defeated, only understood.

LEOPARDS AND DEVICES

‘Artificios y Leopardos’ is a piece conceived as a scenic experience where the public is an active part of the action. With a hybrid language, halfway between theater and dance, the work is inspired by the essay “The Myth of Sisyphus” written by Albert Camus and the concept of the eternal return of Nietzsche. Through an iterative device, a woman channels a collective experiment on freedom.

 

A woman, curtailed by the absurdity of Camus’ Sisyphus, lives trapped in the quagmire of a cyclical experience. She roams around listlessly, like a female leopard in a solitary cage, denying creeds and flock mentality. Almost incapable of finding the strength to support her own weight, and conscious of her vulnerability, she follows the tracks from her own failure to the vital impulse that enables her to live in the margin of the embellished and fictitious beliefs that set in motion the social mechanisms. She searches for the complicity of the audience in a collective reflexion, and asks herself if we want or can find freedom in the dance to which Nietzsche so often referred.
